Default Powerwise chger needle doesn't move

I plug in my chger and it hums but the needle doesn't move. Was working fine and was charging the batteries when the power went out yesterday. went out and unplugged it from the cart so it wouldn't get a surge when it came back on, but nor from the wall, when I plugged it back in last night, it just hummed and I thought maybe it had charged them before the power went out, but today the cart was still dragging and I know they need to be charged, so plugged it in again and same thing, hum but the needle doesn't move. That's when I remembered the power outage. Could it have just blown the 50 amp fuse? Or would it not hum then?

What is make/model of charger?

It hums when plugged into cart, so that means the charger is sensing the battery pack, which in turn means that the fuse in the white wire going to the battery pack from the charge receptacle isn't blown.

So there might be a blown fuse in the output of the charger, or blown diodes.

Could also be a bad ammeter, but you said the batteries weren't being charged, so it probably isn't that.

Do you have a voltmeter?

If so, connect it to the battery pack and monitor the voltage when you plug the charger into the cart. It should start climbing.

What is the pack voltage?

When we know which charger you have, we can troubleshoot further.

model # is 28115go1. I don't know that the batteries weren't charging, wasn't sure it was safe to leave it plugged in if the needle wasn't moving??

Also forgot, I do not have a volt meter, I have a 7 function multi meter, but not sure how to use it and a 10 amp Fast Charge Battery Charger that is fully auto or manual for 6 or 12 volt. the golf cart is 36 volt

If the fuse in your charger was blown the charger wouldn't hum, unles the repay on the control board was bypassed.

When the charger is not plugged into cart, does it hum when plugged into a wall outlet? If it does, the relay is bypassed.

Attached is the face-plate of the charger I believe you have as well a schematic and the manual for it.

A voltmeter is one of the 7 functions of your multi-meter.

Can you post a picture of it?
Or maybe I can find one on-line if I had the Make/model of it.

Looks like the one. So I took the cover off and the power surge evidently blew the diodes off. so went and got two new ones and took the old board off. there are 2 larger holes behind the old board is that where I put the 2 new ones? I also couldn't get a reading on the 50 amp fuse so got a new one of those also.
I only hums when plugged into the cart

Hopefully you got some stud mount diodes.
If need be, just bore new holes in the heatsink that are the right size for the studs to go through and bolt them down.

Only hums when plugged into cart, so the control board is probably okay.

Yes I got stud mount ones, but I didn't realize they didn't have nuts on them GRRRR.. So now I have to go get some of them

OK, replaced all that and at first it wouldn't do anything, took cover back off ans saw a loose red wire coming off the board, put it back on the right post I think and now it hums again, but the needle still doesn't move? Tested the board like they say ro do and it started up. So now what??? :(

You need to make some voltage measurements, so figure out how to use your multi-meter or find someone that knows.
