Default Medalist Driveline Issues - Slipping

Hello, first time posting on the forum and I'm hoping someone out there can help me diagnose some problems I've been having with my cart.

I have a '94-'95 Electric EZGO Medalist that is lifted on 20x10x10 wheels/tires. The issue I'm having is related to the driveline (I think). There is some major slippage occurring somewhere between the motor and the wheels. It's gotten bad lately and the cart is pretty much inoperable.

I did some research before posting and found that a common weak point in these carts is usually the rear hubs. So, last weekend, I did the test to try and confirm that the issue was with the hubs. I removed the center caps, re-installed my wheels, chocked the front wheels and applied the "gas" pedal (Is that even what you call it on an electric cart?). I did not see the axle shaft/castle nut spinning inside the hubs. I checked both sides.

Not sure where to look next? Unless I'm missing something in that test I performed, I was wondering where you fine folks might point me to next? Do I need to remove the half shafts and inspect the teeth that mate to the differential? Or is there a gear that I need to check on the motor output shaft?

Thanks,
Brent

If neither side axle nut is spinning while the cart is not moving check a few more things... First. put a meter on the battery pack and try to go. Make sure the pack is not dropping 5-6v = a battery problem. (I know, sounds stupid but, it happened to me)
Then possibilities lead toward a stripped motor input shaft or a broken axle.

Heavy Duty Hubs see below.

Thanks Scotty. I'll try checking the batteries. Do I make sure the voltage is staying ABOVE 5-6v? And which terminals would I measure? Sorry for the basic questions.

BTW, I emailed you last week to check the stock on your HD hubs. Thanks for the quick reply.

Nevermind, I found the sticky with the DCS troubleshooting guide.

I should have posted 'make sure the pack voltage is not dropping more than 5-6v under load when cart not running'

I remember your email, we received the new shipment. Dozens of Ausco hubs in stock and cable disc brake sets with HD hubs too.

If batteries are okay. I suspect axle trouble for sudden onset or stripped input shaft for gradual onset.

The pack dropped 8v from 37v to 29v.

FWIW, in the 8 years we've had the cart, the batteries have not been replaced.

Default Medalist Driveline Issues - Slipping

Could what I thought was hub slippage actually be a low voltage shudder? That's a term I stumbled on when searching.

It could very well be. I would not waste too much time troubleshooting the drive system when the batteries are dropping way below their recommended minimum voltage. They would drop very little to overpower a broken part in the mechanical part of the drive system.
