Unique Key Switch
I am looking for options in replacing my key switch.
I would like to have an uncommon or unique key but I may just run a toggle in there at a non-conspicuous point... I will be storing my golf cart at a golf course and some of the other members have the desire to use other people's carts. I would like to minimize this a bit. What have others done? How has that worked out? What options are out there? Thank You. |

Re: Unique Key Switch
I use a hidden kill switch to keep the grandkids from taking unapproved joy rides. It works, they've tried.
Some guys use a Harley barrel switch. At least one used a cigarette lighter. Some have used an extra switch that matches others on the dash. And one that had crossed my mind, was the light switch that the schools use that takes a forked key to operate. . |

Re: Unique Key Switch
I use a toggle switch in the dash so you need the key on and the switch off. That's right the toggle switch has the trim rotated so on reads off. Ooops I think I let a cat out of the bag.......... Any 2 pole on/off switch works. I have used $10 generic key switches from auto supply houses.

This is why I have not committed to the unique key switch... and though of going with a toggle.... Also, I have a 2 prong key switch, if I was to go to a 3 prong, I then could connect the DVM to the key switch? |

Re: Unique Key Switch
I used a Harley barrel unique key switch. They are made for 12v, but you can pass 48v through them just fine since there is hardly any amperage going through those wires. I have the three wire model, so first position is cart on, and next position is cart on w/ lights on.

Re: Unique Key Switch
Or.. you can always wire something like this http://www.instructables.com/id/How-...ctronic-Shock/
To either the key, a switch that is labeled "Cart ON" or the steering wheel |
