?? on tires/lift for stock fleet motor
Hi guys,
I have a 1996 EZGO TXT DCS that I have started to take apart to do some work on. Looking at the motor I see I have a stock fleet motor. I have ordered 2G battery cables, among other things, as one of my changes so far. If I leave everything else stock, would I be OK with a 3" lift and 20-10-10 tires? If not what would/should be upgraded? Thanks for all of the help! |

Swerve from what I've read the F-N-R switch, the controller and the solenoid are what most people are replacing on a DCS.

I guess if those upgrades are not avoidable then I will have to just consider going bigger. |

actually, you can get away with a MAX 20" tire on a stock controller set-up, and you should be able to get away with 20" WITHOUT a lift as well.

I am upgrading the shocks to HD coil overs so I figure just that upgrade will "lift" it some?

Re: ?? on tires/lift for stock fleet motor
The F/R switch does not have to be replaced when you upgrade a DCS cart.
With both DCS and PDS carts, the actual Forward/Reverse switching is done inside the controller. All the external switch does is tell the controller what to do. ------------ Even if you stick to short tires (20" or less), the DCS controller was a poor design and will most likely fail in the not so distant future, so it is almost inevitable that you will be replacing the controller. The taller the tires, the more torque loss, so keep that in mind when buying tires. Also steer clear of tires whose maximum inflation pressure is less than 10 PSI, they will cost you even more torque than what is lost by the height alone. |

Sounds like I just need to bite the bullet and upgrade the controller and motor cables. |

These are good carts to upgrade. Get yourself a 400a DCX or XCT controller upgrade and you won't be able to wipe the grin off your face for a week

One additional question on this though. Since I am putting 2G cables on batteries should I do 2G from the motor as well? |
