Default Motor selection- PDS with xct400 42v

So, I've been running my PDS cart at 42v with an xct400 with a fan kit, and I've been very happy with the performance. My cart isn't lifted, I'm running 19" tires, have a back seat installed and stay on the flat Florida roads. We were cruising for quite a while yesterday afternoon, and I think I burned up the motor. Luckily we were only right around the corner from the house when the speed dropped to about 1/2 the normal top end and started hearing a noise, smelling the overheating smell, and feeling the heat.

Im looking into replacement motors and want to know the best way to go, keeping price in mind. I've been looking at the plum quick bandit, some d&d options and the admiral mot-b2. I do like the regen braking, and want to retain this feature.

What recommendations do you experienced guys have for this setup to keep me around 26-30mph? I would like to keep this speed, and hopefully increase some torque, range and dependability.

Thanks in advance!

JohnnieB is running a nice combo for street...his signature reads

2008 TXT PDS - Alltrax XCT48400 Controller/with Fan - 400A/1000A Solenoid - Silver Soldered 2Ga Cables - D&D ES-76-51 Motor - 7 X Exide GC-145 (42V/245AH) - 17" Turf Tires - 28 MPH - 30+ Mile Range - DVM SoC Meter - DPI Accusense Charger

I'm running the same cart XCT500 and D&D 502.2 20" tires more torque and 25 mph on 42v

The ES-76-51 I'm running has slightly less RPM with a 42V battery pack than a stock PDS motor, but about 30% more torque throughout the RPM spectrum, so it spins a bit faster with the same mechanical load and the cart's top speed stays about the same. Acceleration off the line is considerably better and it won't slow down as much climbing highway overpasses, which are about the only hills that exist in FL.

You probably will be able to get at least 6000 RPM turning 19" tires, which is 27.3 MPH and you might get up to 6500 RPM, which is 29.5 MPH.

And my motor produces considerably more torque at lower speed

As I understand it, a SepEx PQ Bandit is a rebuilt/refurbished/remanufactured PDS motor that has been rewound for more torque and/or speed.

Apparently, it uses the same motor housing as a stock PDS motor, so I suspect it has roughly the same heat dissipation abilities as the stock PDS motor you just burnt up.

Also, you lose regen braking.

I'm running the same D&D motor as Johnnie, but on 48 volts and an xct500pds. I can't complain. She moves on pretty good with 23" tires and has all the torque I need.

Reminds me of some controller upgrade instructions I read this week. These instructions came with an aftermarket control. They say never operate on a slope greater than 15º, that puts my driveway off limits
Never change the controller !? Wait! What? ... and something akin to never go faster than a stock cart really?
