Default 48 Volt conversion help

I have installed my new 48v pack, 6/8 volt batteries. I had to keep my main solenoid activation circuit 32 volts. Now my digital battery meter does not read full pack voltage. Can I still have it wired so it turns on and off with the key switch, but reads full pack voltage?

This situation exists because you have reduce the positive side of the solenoid activation circuit which also supplies the key switch where you want to feed your meter.
If you put the positive side back to 48 v and move the negative side of this circuit to 32 V you can then run the negative side of the meter to 48 V and get the Full pack reading you want on the meter at the key switch

Remember that solenoid, contactor, and control share the same + and the same - . The positive source would be the main negative post that connects to the solenoid. The negative source would be battery number four. Except for the battery meter which would go to the main negative post.

So you did not buy a new selinoid? I've not heard of doing it like that. Interesting. Courious to see what the experts will say. If the cart works fine, I guess it would be eazy to hook up a relay that would give your voltmeter full voltage. Is money that tight that you can't buy a 48V selinoid?

Edit, Scotty beat me to it. LOL.

Both his main solenoid and reversing contactor are newish 400/1000 amp capacity. There is no need to purchase new, the answer is simple enough, see above

Thanks for the input. I need to spend more getting the wiring correct. I am hoping to get some garage time in later today.

I'm lost. If he has a new selinoid, why doesn't he have full pack voltage on it? I thought he was trying to use a 36V selinoid without burning it out.

My reversing contractor (SW202-36) is rated for 36 volts, even though my main solenoid is rated for 48 volts I have to use 36 volts to prevent over voltage to the coil on the reversing contractor.

The whole 'ignition' system will be on the same voltage. There are several ways to skin this cat really. The solenoid and the controller circuit board are capable of 36 or 48. The SW202 is less tolerant. The negative side of the SW202 activation could be run to 32v (in this case) and the meter and main solenoid and control circuit would remain on 48v
