2006 TXT Standard Really Slow Uphill

I recently purchased a 2006 TXT Standard, and it is painfully slow going uphill--even fairly mild hills. (I got passed by another golf cart.)
It has 20x10x10 tires and new batteries.

What is my best option?
Let me know what other information you need...

Not the expert youre looking for but I can tell you what they are going to want to know.

Is your cart series or sepex?
What is the full charge voltage on the batteries after being fully charged and then rested overnight?
What is the brand and rating on the batteries?
Are all the connections tight?
Are you sure that they are connected correctly?
Have you checked the water levels?
Does anything get warm while driving?

Im sure there is a lot more but that will get you started.

I know it is a series.
Powertron P2000 6Volt batteries
Nothing gets warm.
I'll have to get back with you on the rest.
(I am pretty ignorant in all things mechanical, but I am trying to learn.
My husband will be working on it.)

Would lift and taller tires help or hurt? There is a lot of conflicting information out there...

Tall tires (20" vs stock 18") is one of the reasons it slows so much on hills, going taller would make it slow more.

With 20" tires, you are losing 10% of the available torque, making the cart slower off the line (acceleration rate) and causing it to slow more than a stock cart going uphill.

If the tires are the low pressure type (IE: Less than 10 PSI max inflation pressure), they take more torque to turn, further reducing the acceleration rate and climbing speed.

Taller tires is a way of increasing the cart's top speed, but to run taller tires you need to offset the torque loss with a more robust controller and amp delivery system and possibly a more powerful motor.

Also, increasing the battery pack voltage to 42V or 48V will give you a 16.78% or 33.3% increase in torque (and speed) respectfully.

All series drive carts slow going uphill, but with the proper upgrades, its hill climbing abilities can be enhanced to acceptability for most people.

A new controller that allows more amperage may help too. I have a series cart as well. Upgraded to 48v, 500A controller and 2awg wires. 19.75" ties and it is awful on hill too. Small hills its OK but on anything that you would feel in your calves if walking will make the cart crawl. Its better than walking but I would like more too. Without a motor upgrade I think Im stuck.

I am watching This one ...but the answer to your question I feel is "OUCH"!

Where in Carolina so i know if my terrain will compare to yours.

The most popular upgrade for the series Ezgo TXT is the Alltrax SPM48500 control and 400 super solenoid. (shop around I see them as low as $529 with the 400 solenoid, resistor, and diode)
All the amperage going from the batteries to the motor go through every cable and the F&R switch in this model. You need 4g or better 2g cable set and a HD F&R switch to complete the upgrade. I hope this helps
