Re: Burned Cable
I'll have to turn that answer over to a more qualified person. I can tell you that in my searching, I found suppliers who sold 4 gauge welding cable with 436 strands of 30 ga. wire and another who claims their 4 ga. had 600 strands of 32 ga. My position was saving money. I don't know how many strands the #2 from Home Depot has but it is a very fine strand. Not like a primary wire on home breaker box. I deduced if #6 was good enough for the OEM then even a mediocre #2 should work, especially at that price. The cheapest I could find #4 was $2.00/ft in 25 or 50 ft. lengths and went up as high as $4.36/ft. at a local store.
I just took it out in the deep snow we have here and pulled it pretty hard without any smell from something burning being emitted. If one of those #2's gets hot I'd say, "Houston....we have a problem"! Kind of funny that they make the base of the seat out of plywood. Woo! Hoo! get the marshmallows!

Re: Burned Cable
Those prices seem to be a little high for 4 ga., The double insulated 420 strand 4 ga. (30 ga. strands)welding cable I have seen is $1.52 a foot and the double insulated 399 strand 4ga. is $1.45 per foot.
