GPS Speed Survey
A lot of folks seem to ask questions about speed. So I figured we should have a thread that documents speed from different configurations.
Please take a GPS speed on level ground in two directions and average. It would be best if the cart was fully charged and you are driving it solo. Please don't exaggerate. Also, If you could, list the following. In fact, you could just push "reply with quote", delete the intro and fill it out as best you can. If you don't know, please put ??? Or stock. I will start on the next post. Cart- Voltage- Tire hieght- Motor- Controller- Wire Guage- Extra weight- Speed out- Speed back- Speed average- Additional comments- |

Re: GPS Speed Survey
I just happened to have that data on-hand from some testing I did after switching to a XCT controller.
Added Field Map line to the list for people with SepEx motors and corrected the two spelling errors. Cart: 2008 PDS Fleet trim. Voltage: 42V Tire height: 17.04" (Dynamic/rolling diameter with driver only onboard) Motor: D&D ES-76-51 Controller: XCT48400PDS with 400A/1000A solenoid. Field Map (SepEx motors): ES7651 Wire Gauge: 2Ga Silver Soldered. Extra weight: 110lbs, from 245AH vs 225AH batteries and 7th battery. Another 100lb or so due to 300lb driver. Speed out: 28.6 (7,026 RPM) Speed back: 28.4 (6,980 RPM) Speed average: 28.5 (7,003 RPM) Additional comments: Tires inflated to 25PSI. Top installed. No windshield. No rear seat. For daily usage, the RPM slider in the XCT controller is turned down to 6,500 RPM, so the max speed is 26.5 MPH during normal operation. Also, the max recommended inflation pressure on my tires is 22PSI and for comfort, I run them at about 18 PSI during normal operation. |

Re: GPS Speed Survey
Ok, so I did another speed run. The cart specs remains the same as in my post #2, except that I loaded the correct "field map" for my motor into the programing.
First I did the two runs in the same place as before. (On grass). My average was 23 mph. Then I took it out on smooth dirt road. My two run average was 26 mph. Since I would like to keep this a clean "just the facts" thread, I will comment in another thread. |
