Default 97 ezgo will not run on ground

Hello all. my first post so bare with me.

i have a 97 EZGO txt?textron? 36v DCS i bought off a friend about 6 months ago. i have now been getting to try ti figure out why it doesn't run. he put new batteries in and it didn't work. i have now trouble shot it quite a bit and I'm lost now. so i have 38v across the battery at charge and even the next day. i have forward and reverse, (reverse buzzer works) i can get it to move but only on jack stands. i replace the diode/resister while replacing the solenoid when i put the cart on the ground it moved kinda slow then blew the diode it started to melt and overheat. also when its on jack stands the wheels move kinda slow really slow compared to my other cart.

1) what would case the cart to only move on jack stands.
2) what would case the diode/resister to fry.

not sure if i posted enough info let me know thanks

Bad news is, this is a common indicator that the cart has a blown controller.
Good news is the XCT is great upgrade control for this cart.

hmm hoping not to replace the controller. if i put a 500Amp controller in it will it still work on everything else stock? i don't want to end up changing motor and everything else but i don't want to waste money on a 200Amp controller.

So i did a few test before from that post

ELECTRONIC SPEED CONTROL - DCS All came back good
INDUCTIVE THROTTLE SENSOR: is reading 14.6v

everything seems to be good.

i haven't done a motor test can't until the weather gets better.

but I'm curious on why the diode/resister overheated started to smoke and burnt up.

You may on to something there. The resistor overheats when the cart tries to run but the solenoid is not closed. The 14.6v ITS reading indicates an open (broken) wire.

Did you try this 7 step test for DCS?

Test results
#1. 36v
#2 36v
#3 36V
#4 36v
#5 nothing. 0v
#6 14.13v
#7 0.48v

I jumped the negative battery back to the blue wire on the solenoid and the solenoid clicked. I left it there and there still isn't that much power going to the wheels won't turn on ground will on jack stands. Still no reverse. I do have 36v going to reverse pin on controller.

Would it be safe to say I need a new controller?
