Default Test a charger before connecting to battery pack ?

Greetings! I picked up an older Textron Total Charge III charger and want to use it at a second location. It is a 36v 21amp charger and I will need to replace the connection on the charger since it does not fit a 1999 DCS or a 2003 PDS cart.

Will this charger work properly with these carts once the plug is changed to fit ?

Before I do that is there a way to test the charger to be certain it works properly with the original plug on it ?

I would think there is a test that can be performed on any charger with a multimeter to ensure it is working correctly ?

Thanks !

Thanks, CTD....good info for testing at the component level which may come next.

So....once I replace the plug to match, this charger could be used for my year carts safely ?

Also, is it safe for the batteries to change the plug and plug it in without a component by component check?

OK, thanks CTD. Really good info. It just scared me to think of hooking an untested charger to my new battery pack.
