EZGO TXT Series Controller Swap to PDS??
Hello, I am new to the BGW Forum and new to owning an electric golf cart. This Forum seems to have a great amount of information and knowledge!
I purchased a 2000 EZGO TXT 36v with 2yr old batteried and a Series controller. The cart drives fine, but slows down going up mild hills. I know that slowing down while going uphill can be considered normal in an electric golf cart, but I noticed with a PDS controller that there are different chips that can alter the performance. My question is, can I swap out the Series controller for a PDS controller so that I can purchase the appropriate chip for my application? If so, is there anything else needed? Please note, I do not want to go to an aftermarket controller because I am able to get a PDS controller for inexpensive. Thanks, Dean |

Can't just swap controllers..........would have to change every part of the drive system

Re: EZGO TXT Series Controller Swap to PDS??
A series motor won't work with a PDS controller, so you'll have to replace the motor as well a some of the controls and control wiring.
The battery pack, solenoid, ITS throttle system and keyswitch are about the only things an EZGO TXT Series drive and SepEx (PDS) drive have in common and you might find the needed lengths of high current cables from a series drive to connect a SepEx drive with a few left over. Even if the PDS controller was free, it would be an expensive transition. Also, PDS carts slow down going uphill, just not quite as much as series carts do. In addition, the various "speed chips" do not actually change the performance (torque, acceleration, etc) of a PDS drive, they only limit the max motor RPM (cart speed) and the amount of regen braking. |

Re: EZGO TXT Series Controller Swap to PDS??
As mentioned, changing to PDS is not real feasible. But why not just upgrade your series cart? I'm sure you can get that thing going up a hill fast.

Thank you for the reply.
Ok, so it sounds like upgrading the PDS is not possible, within reason. What is the most inexpensive way to get my series cart to go a little bit faster or have a little bit more torque? |

Re: EZGO TXT Series Controller Swap to PDS??
If you have a donor cart it would cost only labor to swap a couple of harnesses, electronics, and motor. If no donor cart then your looking at some expense.
Improving hill performance requires a bigger control that allows the motor to access more amperage and more voltage is also a very good way to accomplish this but - requires a control rated for the additional voltage ( not stock) |

Do you have a controller that you recommend if on a budget?
