The need for more speed
Ok guys here is what I have 1996 Ezgo 6 inch jakes lift 400 amp alltrax controller 23 inch tires and 4guage cables. And a plum quick motor the bandit. the cart tops out about 23 mph and I am looking for around 30 mph to put some distance between me and some of these 48 volt club cars around here. I do not want to upgrade to a 48 volt system and im looking for a higher horse power motor that will do it. I have looked at the ezgo 8 hp beast motor and wondering if this will do the job. Thanks again for all the help over the years.

Re: The need for more speed
That's a tall order for a 36v cart. Which drive system do you have?

Re: The need for more speed
When you say 23" tires, what kind. I have 24" low pressure knobby tires. What JohnnieB calls "torque sucking" tires. Lol. If that's what you got, I think it is a very tall order for 36V. I have a 12 hp motor on 48V and it tops out around 26 mph.

Re: The need for more speed
have to many accessories up under the battery compartment and just don't have the room. I just cant get anybody to tell me if the Ezgo Beast motor with 8 hp will do the trick. I think the plum quick has about 4 hp

Re: The need for more speed
A 6 x 8V 48V pack fit in about the same space that a 6 x 6V 36V pack fits in and if you use 170AH 8V batteries, the range is about the same as a 36V pack using 225AH 6V batteries.
Sir Nuke is getting 27MPH @36V with a AMD 7126 Raptor and 23" tires. |

Re: The need for more speed
Electric motor horsepower is very misleading. It all depends on the battery / controller / motor system.
