Default Rough Ride

Hey fellas,
I am fairly new to the forum but have learned a lot form you guys so far! I have taken a low rider from the course and done some mods. I just recently added a Jake's 6 inch spindle lift, and heavy duty leaf springs to the cart. My tires are 23x10x14 all terrain tires. I have done all the proper measure for the toe in it is still not as smooth as i would like. The steering wheel shakes like an out of balanced car. I know it is not going to ride like a Cadillac but it should be better than it is. Any ideas on what I should do next? Should I take the tires to get balanced? Did i screw up with the 14 inch wheels??
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Are you talking about the ride or the steering? Steering should be fairly smooth, ride with HD springs and 14" tires should jar your teeth.

He said the sterling wheel vibrates and shakes like a car with an out of balance tire.

I would not think you need to balance these tires ? I don't balance my 4 wheeler tires and I don't think it rides rough and they even flat spot often sitting awhile.

My cart sounds similar to yours and it rides great. Pretty hard to be a balance issue at the speeds carts go. Could you be driving knobby tires on the street with too much air pressure? (You feel every knob)

As others have already said, it may just be your choice of tires. Of course check the obvious things like wheel mounting and the fit of the tires to the wheels - yes it is possible to get the wheel / tire assembly "out of round" but for it to be enough to feel it like you're describing it should be pretty obvious if you jack it up and spin the wheels. But the more aggressive tread styles (big, thick lugs with large open areas in between) will sometimes feel like gear teeth running down the road. As Helirich suggested. air pressure can play a part too. many of the bigger "balloon" type tires are intended for as little as 4 or 5 psi.

I have ridden plenty of 4 wheelers all have knobby tires. Never have a ride that rough.

Could be that you have a belt broken and a bulged tire? Look close?
