Default EZ-GO slow on inclines

I have a 99/00 EZ-GO TXT Shuttle with a 36v system. I have charge the batteries individually and with the cart charger and they seem to be fully charged. I get 37 to 38 volt reading when charged. It drives fine on level ground but any sort of incline it is really slow.

This cart was at a warehouse and has never been outside. At one time it was a lot faster and the speed was turned down for safety and that may be the issue. Does anyone know how you turn down an electric cart?

The batteries are old and probably need replaced, but before I spend that much money I want to make sure the cart is worth it. What else can I check for?

If it is only slow on inclines, then it's not "turned down". The next thing you should check is all the connections. I would remove and clean one by one. Also inspect the cables for corrision.

To answer your question on "turned down", they could limit the pedal and on certain carts they have a wire that cuts the speed in half. (Normally for reverse)

I would put money on the batteries being bad. For example. 37.5v is only 80% charged and then how well does it hold voltage?

How do you limit the pedal? Is that done on the throttle linkage?

I have seen a cart that had a "allthread" bolt on the floor under the pedal. The pedal would hit one of those round head bolts. Anyways they had two nuts on the allthread and could adjust the bolt to stop the pedal. This was very obvious, so Im guessing you would have seen it.

I havent looked at the linkage, but Im sure you could do the same thing.

I'm guessing he means while his foot is on the floor. My 48 volt cart goes from 51 volts to about 45 if I floor it. (Of course, it doesn't slow down)
