Default Drill into body

I am putting on a led light bar and need to put onto a switch.

I am going to use a simple on off toggle switch and place it down by my legs near my F/R lever on my DCS cart.

Never drilled into body and don't want to mess it up.

Do you use standard drill bit?

Is it best to put some masking tape on the body and drill through the tape to get a clean hole?

Am I over thinking this and just drill the hole?

The txt is plastic so yes just a normal bit. Switches have a trim ring so tape is not necessary probably but won't hurt.

If it's an older metal body style just use a metal bit. And you can tape it.

Be sure to check for a clear drilling path on the inner side of the body panel and room for the switch.
Wires under the driver side and shifting rod under passenger side.

I was thinking the same thing but everyone has their reason for stuff. Didn't want to give my opinion.

Previous owner already wired the front and rear lights to switch and placed it down by the legs...

Think it would be odd to have one switch on dash and another next to legs...

In That case Me personally I would get a plastic fill plug blank and put the old one on dash with the new one I mounted there.
