Default Check my speed with my 48 volt upgrade

Just seeing if this should be speed I should be getting with my set up.

1989 EZ-GO Marathon
18 X 8.5 X 8 Tires
48 Volt US 8VGC XC2 Batteries (6-8 Volts)
Alltrax 500 Amp controller
2 Gauge Cables
HD FWD and Reverse
Stock 36 colt AU2500 Fleet Speed Motor
New DPI Charger

Have pretty much most mods Scotty B sells.

On hole 8 last night on level fairway I check speed. Yes I use my cart to golf with.

14mph @ ~46 volts

Sound right?

This is from my digital gauge while driving @ 14mph on the fairway.

Also have not touched Alltrax for setting. Whatever it came with from Scotty B is what I am running. I had controller when I was 36 volt and just went to 48.

Never checked speed before I went to 48 volts

I will check speed again with fresh charge before I start golfing but the first checks I did were about 14. It gets to 14 in a hurry and won't slow down much on hills on the course so not disappointed in tq. Thought it have a little more speeds but if 14 is what she should run with my set up then it is what it is.

Here's the deal. increasing the operating voltage 33% will produce an equal increase in motor rpm minus all the little losses. Generally we see a 30-33% increase in speed. According to your reading your 36v top speed was 9-10 mph which is on the low end of the normal scale for a Marathon.
Lots of things we can know factor into your top speed. Not the least of them being the condition of your 27 yr old motor and wheel bearings etc.
If more speed is truly desired look into a high rpm motor.

Plan on motor next year as this has been done in stages. Wheel bearing good and changed rear end fluid at beginning of year. Still happy with it but know I should have done a before and after but batteries were dead at beginning of year and needed replacement so did not do speed check.
