Default 48v system overvoltage help.

Have a 48 volt system Trojan Batteries two years old EZGO txt. Have an Accu sense charger.
The last couple times I went to charge it I've noticed that the voltage has gotten as high as 58 volts and then the cart will not work due to over voltage is this normal what has changed?

After 10 min sitting it drops down below 54 or 53.5 and works again. But seems like a new problem lately. After taking off charge I can't use it right away

If it is an Alltrax control you can set the operating upper limit as high as 60v which should allow you to come straight of charge to driving.

As Scotty mentioned, the SPM over-voltage slider needs to be set to max.

However, I believe you ought to take a closer look at the 48V DPI Accusense charger to make sure it is working right.

In mode-2 (Trojan), the on-charge pack voltage ought to be about 52.5V when in float charge (Green LED illuminated) stage. This is a constant voltage stage.

When in absorption charge (Yellow LED on steady) stage, the pack voltage ought to be about 56.4V. This is also a constant voltage stage.

Between the Absorption and Float charge stages, the charger goes into a Top-Off or Finish charge stage (Both Yellow and Green LEDs on steady). This is a constant current stage and the on-charge voltage is free to climb until the dV/dT (change in voltage over change in Time) criteria is met, indicating battery is fully charged. This is the only stage during which the output voltage of a properly operating 48V DPI Accusense can climb to the 58V level you mentioned.

As batteries age, the dV/dT voltage climbs, so going to 58V in the Top-Off stage isn't abnormal, however if it is occurring in any other stage, it is.

Of course, you'll see voltage above the 52.5V float level for several minutes after the charger goes from the Top-Off stage to the Float stage.
