For improved performance try going with #4 gage wires. Can be bought by the foot at a welding supply store. Locally here I found it much cheeper to buy from a welding supply store for the cable and go to an auto parts store for the terminal ends. But you might want to check around on the ends.

Did you buy the 6 volts or the 8 volt batteries? Going from 6 to 8 will also add to the adding performance, but you will need to change the sylonid to 48 volt as well.

Good luck on your build and keep us posted wil pics along the way.

You can try Ebay. I'm sure that you could go to your auto parts store and buy the wire and ends and do it yourself (copper wire ain't cheap). I have also been told to upgrade to at least 4GA wire in case you plan on putting a bigger motor.

Hey Mike,

Out of curiosity and just to put this to a definitive rest, what year distinguishes between the Marathon and the X series cars?

try one of the sponcers here, and look at the heavy gauge ones, supposed to get more juice to the motor.

I don't know. I don't have any reference books that go back that far!

Not your answer, maybe someone here with a Marathin and or has done their research can help????
