Default Cart goes for a bit then dies

Hello All,
I recently purchased an 08, 48v, EZ-GO lifted, cart . The body was replaced and it doesn't have the name plate inside the compartment so I'm not sure on the model.
Recently, after unplugging the charger, it would not move. I toggled the tow/run switch a few times and it would come back to life. While down, the reverse buzzer would not work either. Not sure if that's a clue or not.
This went on for a little while, a month maybe. I went to get the mail yesterday and it made it about 500' to the mailbox but when I tried to go back it went about 50' and died. I toggled the tow/run switch and it ran another 50' and died and so on and so on.
Can anyone help with where to start on this? The batteries look brand new (Trojan with the water system attached) and I was told they were only 6mo old when I bought it.

Confirm battery age. Date stamp is in the top of the battery posts.

And this is like the third person with a problem like this in the last few weeks isn't it?

I don't think it can be that one! It was only produced from 2010 and up and you said you have a 2008? You probably have the PDS TXT thats second from right.

There is another seldom seen odd ball drive PDS2 not on the chart. Can you tell us how many pins in the main controller connection? 16 or 24 ?

Sorry for the delay guys, my job takes me out of town to remote areas at the most inconvenient times.
The drive system looks identical to the picture with the circle around the solenoid cover. I was told it was an 08 from the previous owner, however he advised he did not buy it new so maybe he was misinformed.
I took the cover off the drive system and the date code says 11097P and the model is 1206HB-5201. It is manufactured by Curtis and is a 16 pin controller.
The batteries do not have the typical punch sticker on the top. They are Trojan T-875 batteries with the watering system attached.
Lately, once the cart starts, as long as you don't push the accelerator all the way down, it works fine, however if you do it will die and will need to be reset via the tow/run toggle.
Thanks again guys.

The 1206HB-5201 is the TXT48. It sounds to me like a thermal cutback, Controller saving itself when amp draw is too much. In this case amp draw is not too much but is max and each time the control opens for max flow it cuts off. This event will get more frequent. The rest or cooling off period may get longer and eventually it's just not going to come back on.
If you want an inexpensive fix it I have a good control with speed code 4 (19.6mph) That I just took out of my 2010 TXT48 for $150. If you want to upgrade torque and speed I have XCT400-500 amp controls

I googled the internet for the lowest prices on these items and found them here.
XCT400TXT48 and XCT500TXT48 are items #8 and 9 here > http://www.cartsunlimited.net/alltra...-controls.html

Customer just reported 29 mph with the XCT500TXT48, 400 solenoid, 2g cable set, and Admiral D2 motor on stock tires and wheels.
