Default B- and M-

Just a quick question.
I have pack voltage on B- and m- on a 2004 PDS ez go golf cart 36 volts.
I have pack voltage (38.4) on these terminals with peddle up.
push the peddle and solenoid clicks and the voltage does not drop. Am I looking at a bad motor or bad controller. I can't seem to find the answer any where.

Thanks
Sonny

The answer is on my website under troubleshooting. I have put some helpful tips and tests there based upon common questions here.

Your answer to this question is the controller is powered up (ready to go) but it is either not capable or not being told to pass any current to the motor.
Check your ITS pedal signal

Sorry to be so dumb, but after reading the sticky. I'm lost, one place you say, check the 6 pin connector. I can't find a 6 pin anywhere. I am looking at the pds controller.
It shouldn't make any difference, but my controller is an alltrax 400.
I will check the ITS voltage and get back to you.

thanks

Scotty

I check the white wire and it has 9.4 volt on it just as the solenoid closes.
When it's was acting up, the alltrax controller gave me a 3 red lights.
Then It started to run just as fast as it quits. I'll do some more test later when It cool off. If I should be doing anything else, just let me know.

Sonny

Just read test again. I missed the part about, needing to be taken apart. I will now go do that.
Made a big difference, the white wire has 14.1 volts. As I was checking the voltage cart was running and stopped and I got 6 red lights on the controller.
Question can the motor do this ???

You just might have a bad pedal switch.

3 red blinks is a HPD error, (pedal didn't return to zero)

Measuring the ITS voltage on a DCX. Measure the voltage between the white and black wires while they are connected. Pedal up should be 10V and pedal down should be 6V.

Thanks JohnnieB
I did check A- and B- when it started to run and the voltage when from pack voltage to O.
Also the cart was running and just died while I was checking it. Then got the 6 red lights without me ever letting off the pedal. I may be looking at a controller problem.
Thanks for the help guys.

When you get a 6 Red LED blinks, the voltage between the controller's B- and B+ terminals is less than whatever the Under Voltage slider is set to, or the controller is sick.

The spread (Throttle range) is only about 80% of what is ought to be (3.18V vs 4.00V), but it ought to run okay. Maybe you won't be getting the max performance, but at least it'll run.
