Default How to access back of "ignition" switch?

Hello everyone. I tried to search for a while and gave up. I'm trying install a radio on my 98 ez to electric. I hooked up a 36v to 12v reducer and hooked the radio to it and it came on so I know it works. What I can't figure out is how do I get to the back of the ignition switch so I can connect the on/off wire to the back of the switch? It's all pop riveted together. Also anyone know exactly which wire I connect to? I did look at the sticky wire diagram thread but am still confused. Thank you.

I realize now that I don't have to connect to the wire at the back of the switch ... I can connect to it anywhere lol! Just need to figure out which wire! What a noob!

Do not connect the radio to the key switch. It is 36 volts. If you have a 36v cart just wire it to 2 batteries withe a rocker switch to cut power to the radio.

Ok thank you. Will I lose the time and presets that way?

Yes you will ,but better than killing your batteries. Now with most radios your time will update when you turn the radio on

Thank you for your help. Can you tell me which wire I tap into for the voltmeter to go on and off with the key? It's got to be yellow or white and yellow I assume?

Been a while since I wired mine. There is another thread about this if you search. Some wire it in the switch and some wire to the battery pack so it stays on all the time. Either way is fine cause DVM only draws milli volts if I read correct

You can use a volt meter and check the wires off and then check them when non to find a switched one.

If you run your switch right, it will only control power. Wire memory direct to 36v. It draws microamps - less than the battery discharges all on its own. You'll be able to save your presets/settings just fine. Heck if you can remember to hit the power button on your radio, you don't even need a switch.

Only wired one up for mine because i set up a powered radio antenna and I wanted to cut power to it with a switch, so i threw the radio power onto that one as well.
