Default 1996 TXT kingpin and bishings.

Ok so what is the proper procedure for this?

Pulled the spindle out and realized those bushings must be pressed into the spindle. And pressed out?? So I went about the old School method like you would do to replace u joints. Big socket to support bottom and a smaller one to drive them through. After a few mins I got them out. So I see the new ones are a tight fit as well. Use the dead blow get them flush. Next go to put the king pin sleeve or king pin not sure which it actually is. Forget that it needs to be inserted while spindle is on cart. So I beat it into the spindle and now it's in there and I will have to press it out its that tight a fit. Question is how the heck do I put it on when on the cart? I can't even get the deadblow at an angle to hit it that hard to drive it in. Or did I get parts that are just out of spec? I actually used the old sleeve as I thought it would go in easier??? This is just too tight it seems?

This side had slop in the spindle is why I took it apart. But even the good side the sleeve just slid in.??

These must be wrong part then?

Did you put the new bushings in the spindle or just sleeve/kingpin that the bolt goes through? I think the problem is those 2 piece bushings that press into the spindle. It's like there .001 to big or something?

And so now I ha e the bushing large bolt collar thing that the bolt slides through is stuck in the spindle. I need to go press It out and I guess the smaller 2 piece bushings since theg seem to be too big? But the fit over the bolt sleeve when they were out of the spindle, I guess the spindle just compressed them?? Heck I don't know what's going on here?

There is 2 bushings that press into the spindle. That picture does not show them? What year is that diagram?

The bushing I am talking about are the torn looking things that are laying around. There also a few impact sockets, not those. One socket is actually stuck in one bushing.

Edit: I had to load it to see the pic I couldn't remember where they were in the pic. Look above the yellow handled hammer. There 2 impact sockets standing up. And beside them to left is a socket stuck in one and then another laying beside it to the left. There both laying on their side.

they are the 94~2000

King Pin Bolt (5 1/2") & Tube, E-Z-GO Golf Cars & Small Utility Vehicles, 1994 thru 2000

you have the old spindle style

King Pin Bronze Bushings

Product Description

This is the King Pin Bronze Bushings used inside the right and left spindle assembly at the ends of the front axle for all E-Z-GO golf cars & all utility vehicles from the early 1970's thru 2003. This includes Cushman Commander 280, 2100 & 2200 models & Jacobsen 1110 Hauler & E Hauler models up to 2005. These king pin bushings also will fit all WorkHorse ST-350 & ST-480 big wheel truck models, the Clays Car & Cushman Commander 4800 through 2003. />

NOTE 1: In 2001 E-Z-GO introduced a new steering system for the golf cars & small utility trucks. They changed from these king pin bushings, that they have used from way way back, to a new teflon coated bushing that is not compatable with earlier models. Only the big wheel trucks continue to use the older style bushings.

NOTE 2: Two of these bronze king pin bushings are press fit into each spindle assembly (an upper & a lower), and they are the buffer between the hardened steel king pin and the expensive spindle itself. The bushings are designed to wear away over time and must be replaced when the spindle starts to get too sloppy on the king pin. Otherwise excess play is experienced at the steering wheel and some steering 'feel' is lost. If the bushings are too far gone then the king pin & spindle start to wear against each other and repair can start to get expensive. The front spindles have grease fittings and regular lubrication will help protect the bushings. Keep in mind that if the bushings are excessively worn there are probably other front end parts that need attention as well.

NOTE 3: In 1994 E-Z-GO offered two completely different golf car models: the older, boxy-looking Marathon, or X-car (as some people call it), and the new curvier-shaped Medalist. Although the engine, motor, brakes and rear ends remained the same, the body, steering and suspensions were very different.

Be sure of which model you have. The older Marathon has two front leaf springs that bolt onto the top of the front axle, and the steering gear box is inside the car. The Medalist, and later TXT models, have the leaf springs attached to the bottom edge of the front axle, and the cast aluminum steering box is up under the front body panel.

NOTE 4: 1994 is the generally accepted date of the conversion from the older Marathon model to the modern Medalist/TXT models. In fact there are Marathon style golf cars and utility vehicles out there that were made several years after 1994. Utility trucks like the 804 and Tuff 1 have diamond plate steel bodies and sport the old boxy Marathon look. These golf cars & utility trucks WILL NOT use this king pin bolt or king pin tube offered here.

We offer this bolt and tube set as either a factory or an aftermarket manufactured part. Please make your selection from the option menu.

E-Z-GO Factory Part #: 70327-G01 (bolt, 1/2" x 5 1/2"L) & 70328-G01 (tube)

Ok , so why when I get the bronze bushings into the spindle will the kingpin not go in other than beating it? Yes I beat the bronze in with a dead blow but I didn't have to beat them too hard? I guess I deformed them by beating them in. I will buy 2 more and knock these out and go to a buddies shop with a press and press them in this time? That's all I can think is wrong?
