1990 marathon will not move in reverse
I have a 1990 electric marathon golf cart. Ser#-586269
Manuf. code -02790 I just put new tires and batteries in it after it sat for several years. Drive just fine in forward, but in reverse I hear the solenoid close but there is no movement of the cart. I checked the micro switches and they appear to be working fine. It there a good way to test the power coming out of the FnR panel to make sure power is going to the motor? Any help is appreciated Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: 1990 marathon will not move in reverse
Thanks Scotty for the quick reply
Now for the bad news. When I first started messing with the cart, I didn't hear the solenoid closing on reverse. I pulled the FnR and found one of the rollers on the microswitches was bent and didn't fall into the detent of the rotor. I took it apart at the shaft but looking over this diagram, I see the nut, "B" is preloaded. So I wonder how bad I messed up. I'm headed to my cart now to follow the laid out test procedures and will let you know what I find Thanks again P.S. I'd like to visit with you about possibilities for my cart. |

O.K. I did check and I do NOT have continuity between #3 while in neutral. Now what?

In neutral you shouldn't. the switch should be in reverse to get continuity on 3 and 8

Re: 1990 marathon will not move in reverse
Sounds like you have a bad switch. My modified EZ575 F&R is the heaviest duty switch available, for this late marathon use EZ575L

Re: 1990 marathon will not move in reverse
Tighten the center pivot shaft nut to increase contact pressure. If this fails to help replace the switch.
