new old carts - need some power up suggestions
I bought an '89 EZGO a few months back and a '91 this past weekend. The '89 has a lift and a few other upgrades to make it look better, but stock on all mechanical parts. I plan on coming back to it later for some more upgrades.
The '91 needs a little more TLC. I've read through this forum and the information is excellent, but being new to this I thought I would make a post rather than searching for everything. I'm ordering the Jake's Lift for the cart and some new wheels and tires. 10" wheels and 22" tires seemed a good choice. What I am most interested in is getting a little more speed out of the cart. Not trying to burn rubber, but it is very sluggish right now. Where should I start? Motor??? Convert to 48 volt??? Or something else??? Thanks in advance! |

Re: new old carts - need some power up suggestions
Thanks for the welcome. I guess I am becoming a golf cart junkie. After a little more research on this site and a few cost studies on power upgrades, I decided to buy a 48 volt Club Car. Ended up with a 2005 President. It seems to be an awesome cart and since I am spending a few thousand on upgrades, a 15 year newer cart seemed a more cost effective choice than changing everything on the old ones.
I'm thinking about selling the 89 and 91 EZGOs. Is there anything special about either of these two carts that would make me want to hold on to them. We need 2 carts at the lake house and I think (2) 2005 or better Club Cars will serve us better. |

Both are Ezgo Marathon carts....... They enjoy a good reputaion and lots of them out there still working everyday.... Sell them and buy a a fleet or series cart with a lighter, rust proof plastic body from one of three major makers.
