Default my new build

HI Guys I have acquired an old Marathon manufacturer code D1892. as you can see in the photos its been striped down and I have replaced the rusted out metal as well as I have stretched it out by eight inches. What I would like to know is what electrics should I go with. I have ditched everything including the old mechanical throttle but the motor is in could contrition it is a 36 volt motor. I will be running on golf courses and will be putting 12 inch wheels. Any help I can get would be great.

Cheers

Looks neat. On the drive, that will be a series motor and I would up grade to 48 Volts and a controller of 400-500 amps.

It looks like a totally custom build. If you are going this far.... pull out the stops and upgrade to a sepex drive system and modern XCT control. You don't want modern carts passing you by

While that might be fun, I've been told that a sepex motor will not go on that axle. So in addition to all the other parts to up grade a series, he would have to buy a new motor and axle. I think at that point, he might as well just buy a whole new cart.

TXT transaxles are a cheap if you look around. They outlast the carts.
It's his custom ground up creation, He can be limited as you suggest or continue with the creation. It's possible & his choice

Thanks I was hoping not to buy a new motor as I am in Australia and to buy one here as well as axle will cost more than a new cart. Freight from the states will also kill me. Is there any way to make it faster by upgrading computer soliniod and staying at 36 volts as I am trying to use 3 12 volt batteries to allow some more room. Cheers

You are asking too much. In essence you are asking if you could power it less and have it perform more? Add another battery (48v) and it may run faster for a few blocks until the 3 12v (car ?) batteries give up.

While there are some stock carts with four 12volt batteries, I've never heard of a stock one with three 12's. Would it work? Yes. But range would be very limited. As I see it, you must buy a selinoid, controller and F/R switch at a minumum. I would buy all 48 volt compatible stuff. If you want to go the four 12's, make sure you get "deep cycle" batteries. I think Trojan makes some that are better than a standard deep cycle marine battery.

If you want to go three 12's, the only way to get more out of a series is taller tires. But that's a mixed benefit. (Speed goes up, power goes down)

Four 12's is not as good as 6 8's. Less range and a bit less performance.

You've stretched the frame, are you doing a rear seat or cargo bed? If so you're adding weight and going to bigger wheels and tires. All of these rob torque. 12v batteries won't have a good run time. you want deep cycle batteries, either 6x6v or 6x8v.

Since you'll need more power you should go for 400/500 amps for the controller and solenoid, you should also put in a HD F/R switch or reversing contactor kit. I'd also add Digital Volt meter, 2 gauge cable.

All available at carts unlimited.
