Default 97 txt have to roll to get moving

Hi I'm new to carts And picked up a 97 ez go txt and sometimes I have to roll it to get moving. After that it seems to run fine for the day. The cart has a stock controller and motor. It has a jakes lift and 22" tires. The batteries are about a year old and metered 38.3 on full charge. I did upgrade to 2 ga cables. I've cleaned up all the connections and everything's tight. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Could be a motor needing brushes.

at almost 20 years old i would probably just replace the motor, what's a good upgrade for the stock motor that would still work with the stock controller. I'm happy with the performance now, but a little more torque would be nice.

For a cheap replacement for a bit more torque and speed click on or Google the site sponsor and look at the bandit motor. $225 to have yours rewound for a claimed 20% increase in speed and torque.

I looked at them how are the bandit motors ( It's a rebuilt motor I assume ) compaired to a D&D motor ? Money's not a huge concern as I would rather spend a little more upfront to have it done right. thanks

the "i am willing to buy a new upgrade motor" idea is fine, But... upgrade motors that give a worthwhile improvement on a lifted cart will need a upgrade controller to power it. you have a stock controller now?

Yes I have a stock controller. Would that be fine for an upgraded motor for now or would I need to do them both at the same time?

in my opinion it will not be long before the stock controller fries. and it might perform worse than the stock motor. its not a good idea, most of the stock controllers are not robust at all.

The higher performance motors must draw more amperage than the stock motors.
The carts drive system is engineered for golf. Every component is matched up and the sum of the components facilitate the proper flow of energy for the motor. If a higher performance (higher consumption) motor is installed in a stock system there will be an imbalance which will result in failure.
You can do a little bandit upgrade with the stock components.
An aftermarket motor will require a system upgrade. The 2g cables are a good start. Which drive system do you have? see attached

It's a sepex drive system, I might just do a bandit motor for now then upgrade down the road, what controller/motor and solenoid would you recommend ? also would anything else on the cart needed to be upgraded to handle the extra power from the motor? Thanks
