Default Cart Acting Dead But Batteries Are Fine

Hi all,

I've been searching high and low and can't find a solid answer to my issue. Have a 2007 EZ Go TXT PDS 36v.

Replaced the batteries a few months ago (Battery Source batteries). Replaced the solenoid about two years ago.

The cart has been acting sluggish and then dying right out of the drive way sometimes; sometimes I get a mile out of it before it trips the 2/1 Beep Code (low voltage). I push it (or tow it) back to the house, put a volt meter on the battery pack and the pack reads about 38-40 volts each time and each battery is sitting around 6.2-6.5. Also, my state of charge meter is reading completely full even though the cart beeps for low voltage and then dies.

All I can figure is that one of the cables in the pack might be going bad and causing a break in the circuit - but the cables are nice and tight and the terminals are completely clean.

I figure if it's a solenoid issue it should be a "zero or one" - meaning the cart goes or it doesn't (if the solenoid doesn't engage). Does that check?

Controller issue?

I put it in diagnostic mode and it doesn't tell me anything.

Thoughts?

If it was a solenoid issue, then the cart would give a code for solenoid dropout, not low voltage. Is there a way you can alligator clip your test leads to the main positive and negative and go for a ride? If so, watch the voltage as much as possible. It sounds like one of the batteries is dropping out under load. Even new batteries can fail.

Crazy question, but were the batteries you replaced golf cart type deep cycle batteries?

Connect your DVM and see what the pack voltage is when you try to go and it dies.
