Default RXV intermittent run / no run

2012 RXV

With back wheels off the ground it will briefly run. It sounds like something is binding at the motor. When pedal is depressed in FWD or REV the motor spins the wheels really slow for 2-3 seconds then stops. Cycle the key & it does the same thing.

Removed motor & disassembled. All looks good. Continuity on UVW passed & no shorts to case. Bearing good.

Complaint was that it would run & then just quit. Brought to me running. Told it had to be "warmed up" to run. Let it sit for a few hours & now it's in this weird state.

Electric Brake tested 48v on the line & 25ohms on the device.

Analog pedal inputs to controller .5 to 5v

Any ideas?

Title should be RXV creeps for a brief second & then dies. Cycle key & it does the same both in FWD & REV.

Ruled out the motor encoder, bi-metal switch & resistor.

Pin 2 (low side driver for Buzzer) on controller doesn't provide a -48 during the power up (100 ms) or while in reverse. Buzzer measures open but buzzes when connected directly to 48v.

It makes it through the power up sequence despite this.

Anyone...anyone

curtis controller (black cover over resistor coil) or danaher controller (aluminum cover over resistor coil)? have you read the appropriate troubleshooting guide for other tests like motor temp sensor?

Sounds like the brake is dragging or not releasing and engine is heating and quitting to me.When it quits can you put it in tow/haul and turn the rear wheels by hand ?.

Curtis & no. I'll look for motor temp sensor diagnose. Thanks!

No. I removed the brake after power up to watch the motor do the exact same thing.

motor temp sensor = 600 ohms at rest. Spec is 400 to 1300

no ezgo did. I assume they plug in a programmer that tells J2 on the controller to not pull low. Even during start up sequence.

I have never heard of E-Z-GO disabling the reverse buzzer on ANY cart. It would open them up to a liability suit. When I was employed by E-Z-GO we were specifically told that disabling the reverse buzzer was grounds for instant termination This was said by the head of the legal division for E-Z-GO).

I also know that during the latest refresher course I took for the RXV, we were told that trying to circumvent the reverse buzzer would disable the cart.
