Default New to carts, Need some assistance identifying

I traded for a cart over the weekend, and have done some research, and have some information, but I am looking for more.

Quick backstory: Traded for a non- running cart, 36 volt EZ GO TXT. Found a couple bad batteries, swapped in an automotive battery just to check everything else out. Also determined the safety micro switch in the pedal to be bad, jumped out the solinoid and I was off!

Need some help to ID just exactly what I have. The tag with the info is missing. The charger is listed as a 1999, but that could be a mis-match of course. From some diagrams on here, I have determined it to be a series motor (no regen) with an "open" forward reverse switch located under the seat. The switch currently operates backwards (F goes backwards, R goes forward, but the beeper sounds when backing up, probably a linkage issue?)
Controller is a Curtis PMC 25864g05

I am trying to narrow down just exactly what I have. There is no "tow" switch. Other than the paint and add- on LED lights, and radio (all poorly done and will be re-done) its a "golf- course fresh" machine. Very nice body, very nice tires.

Can anyone please assist with the identification (year, exact model, verification of controller type, etc) so I can make my life a bit easier with upgrades, troubleshooting, etc?

My 5 kids (13, 11, 9, 6, 5) have putted around the yard, but I want to get this thing 100% so they can really enjoy it, oh and dad too.

Thank you for the help, I am sure these posts are very frequent, but with out the data tag, I am lost.

Thanks
Big Daddy

Lift the seat and look under the body towards the back of the cart. Look to see if there is a number stamped into the chassis.

Lift the front of the black flap covering the motor and you might find a label.

If the body is plastic, it is a TXT, if it is metal, it is a Medalist.

If the steering column bolts to the floor with 3 bolts, it is Pre-Jan-2001, if it bolts to the floor with 4 bolts, it is Post-Jan-2001.

The series drive system using a Curtis 1206 controller was introduced in 1993 and has remained pretty much the same ever since, so finding a schematic for it will be easy. Most likely the one I've attached will be correct for it.

EZGO didn't change much about the body either, so once we know if it is a Medalist or a TXT body style and PRE or Post 2001, finding parts and service manuals for it will be easy.

It is a plastic body, and I am sure it is a TXT, yes. That schematic is one I have already printed off, and it does appear to be correct. (I have a ton of electrical and auto experience, so pretty confident on that). I will check the steering column, to be honest, I did not notice that. Thank you for the help.

If it is the 4-bolt type, the Owner manuals, the Service and the Service manuals are the top three PDF files in the post linked to:
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...g-manuals.html

Other than the change in the steering mechanism from body mounted to axle mounted that occurred in 2001, TXT carts with a Series drive remained pretty much the same and most parts are interchangeable across model years.

Also, here is a picture of the label on the frame behind the rear row of batteries in my 2008 TXT (which has been upgraded considerably since that picture was taken in July-2011. )

I'm not sure what year EZGO started using them, but my cart has a stick-on label with the serial number under the charge receptacle (With is most likely gone on your cart since it has been painted, and a label with complete information on the frame cross member behind the battery pack, which may still exist.

another possible serial number sticker location is under the drivers side floorboard of the cart on the frame near the brake linkage.

No tag, I have the 3 bolt flange on the column. So perhaps it is a 1999 like the charger, correct?

is there a manual available for the pre-2001 units?

correct.....so in reality....the only thing that's different is the front suspension. everything else in the drive system is the same.

Maybe it is a 99 TXT, but without a serial number there is no way of knowing the exact model year for sure.

Even with a serial number, it may not be possible to determine the model year since EZGO's records seem to have some holes in them.

The attached Service manual and Parts manual ought to match your cart.
