Default Replaced Soleniod, Battery Sparks!

I went through the DCS Troubleshooting and replaced solenoid as described. Tried to hook up my negative battery cable to test her out and I got huge arc. I made sure I was in TOW mode, key off, everything.....tried again, huge arc....Something is hot somewhere, but it makes no sense to me as I followed the book to the T! Any advice out there?? Thanks

Thanks! However, maybe I was underdescribing the arc. It is flat out sparking heavily when I try to connect the negative cable to battery, just like when you touch two jumper cables together. Is it still normal? Thanks

maybe not ? Most people tend to over state the size of the arc... how about some pics of the install?

One thing, and maybe this is just me......

Try disconnecting the Positive and hooking up the ground first, then hooking up the positive last. I have always been a firm believer in having the ground connected before I connect the hot lead. Goes back to my days as an electrician, but we always wanted ground connected before the hot leads.....

Good Stuff rabbitreborn! Worked better! So replaced solenoid and stick no click. When I put a meter on solenoid battery side, I get 39.2 V. When I put it on controller side, I get 39.2 V. It's like it is stuck in open? position........Continued troubleshooting by the book an DCS, and it all checked out. Another bad solenoid??

I looked at some other threads about having an open load on the system. I traced all wiring and found a faulty pedal micro switch. So if you see sparks out there, check the micro switch under floor! Thanks to all!
