My charger is suddenly putting out only about 3 amps, batteries are reading about 36 volts any ideas?

Do the same test on someone elses cart with your charger. Then their charger on your cart This will let you know if the issue is in the charger or the cart.

I tried that and it seems to be my charger is bad. I've also done the obvious and checked the diodes and they're ok. Any other ideas?

I might be wrong, but if you are only outputing 3 amps, then the transformer might be bad. Unfortunately, a replacement transformer is more than a good used charger.

As a dealer, my advise would be to let a repair shop look at it for an estimate. Chargers (and internal components) are expensive. For a comparison, we charge a flat rate of $50.00 for charger repairs, plus parts. If the charger is bad, I don't charge people for a "looksie", as I feel that I need to provide this type of service to the public. Some places might charge you to look at it - that is their business. However, a proper diagnosis is well worth the price in order for you to know what the problem is.
