Cool 1999 EZGO/2005 Western dead

I have a 2005 western but I'm posting it here because it's basically a 1999 EZGO PDS Cart.

Pulled it off the charger today it ran about 100 feet and then died, I was able to get it home barely, but I had to do it in reverse and it barely made it.

The batteries are old but they still read 49volts across all seven, that's right it's a 42volt system.

It has an on board charger and I have been noticing the strong rotten egg smell while charging lately.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like it's time for new batteries. Check water level and check voltage under load.

Finally got around too checking voltage under load, yup these things are shot. Going this weekend to get new Trojans, taking her up to 48 volts with a new controller.

I've got an on board charger, Delta-Q, I have to figure out how to change the Algorythm , I played hookie from work today, picked up the batteries and new wires, got them installed and its jerky, and it stutters before it takes off I was planning on changing out the controller to an Alltrax, but I thought the cart would work fine until I got around to it. What is this stutter thing it's doing? Is it something else other than the controller? Anyone know how to change the Algorythm on a Delta-Q?

You can google how to change the algorithum, its pretty simple. i think you need to disconnect the charger wires, then hold the wire ( red i think ) on the positive post for a few seconds, and the flashes tell you what it is set for now, Then you tap the the wire to the terminal until you get the number of flashes you need.

But you are aware, you are only changing the charge algorithum to match a certain brand of battery? You will still have a 42 volt charger.

Just confirmed the Delta Q I have (481 is a 48v charger, I just need to change the algorithm to #1, this is the proper setting for Trojan T875's.

Any ideas on the shuddering and then sudden take off?

If the batteries are good, and the proper voltage, and charged up, and is stuttering, might check the ITS in the floor?
