Carts Unlimited Switchable Voltage Reducer install
I am installing this with the Fuse panel and buss bar into my RXV.
In the notes it says to hook the Yellow wire to a 2 pole on and off switch. I installed an on/off Rocker with LED. I hooked the Yellow wire from the Reducer to the Accessory on the switch. Currently I have the Red + wire from the Reducer going straight to my Battery post. And a separate power wire going from Battery to the power side of the switch. Can I take the power wire from the switch and connect it to the fuse panel or do I need to run it direct to the battery? Also I have the digital battery meter. From the wiring diagram is looks like I am to splice the Yellow wire on the Reducer to the positive wire on the Battery meter. IS that correct? Thanks! Bryan |

Re: Carts Unlimited Switchable Voltage Reducer install
I think the RXV note on the bottom of the page is clear and you have a separate switch now for the reducer. The (+)feed wire for this switch comes from the battery pack main & can be shared with the battery meter since it is direct to the pack main (+). The other meter wire should run back to the battery pack main (-).
I hope this helps The fuse panel 12v (+) is the green wire |

The yellow wire from the Reducer will go straight to the accessory side of the Rocker switch. And the power wire from the rocker switch will share the Positive of the meter and both go straight to the battery main + Do I have that correct?? (The confusion for me comes from the switch being it has an LED on it it has 3 prongs. Ground, Power, Acc.) |

yes, but the meter (+) can go to either side of the switch. One side will be constant on. The other side switched. And the meter (-) goes to the battery pack main(-).

Re: Carts Unlimited Switchable Voltage Reducer install
Something isn't right. I have it all hooked up and the switch turns on/off the accessories but its getting HOT and it gets hot fast.
its a 30AMP 12V switch. Connections are as follows: Power to switch is Direct to Main + on battery Ground to switch is Direct to - buss ACC on switch is to Yellow wire along with Battery meter Red + Any ideas why the switch is getting hot? (my guess is the switch is getting the 48V instead of 12V but I need advice from people who know this. LOL) |

Re: Carts Unlimited Switchable Voltage Reducer install
On my RXV, the 12V converters +48V input is wired through a fuseholder, directly to the switched +48V power lead of the battery SOC (State of Charge) meter. The 12V converters 48V negative wire is connected to the negative power lead of the SOC meter. My 12V converter is only rated at 10 amps output, so current consumption is under 3 amps at 48V. The SOC meter does not measure voltage at the power leads, it gets its readings from the Controller, so the 12V converter load does not affect the readings at all.
The 12V converters output goes through another fuseholder to the headlight switch, and supplies power for the horn, turn signal switch, brake lights, and for three 12V cigarette lighter style accessory sockets in the panel in front of the cupholders. The accessory sockets power my GPS and charge both my cellphone and bluetooth earpiece. All lights are LED. The headlight switch is a rocker switch with a bright blue LED that lights up when the headlights are on. The turn signals, brake lights, and horn, are all switched by the key switch and work regardless of the headlight switch position. When the cart key is off, everything 12V is shut down. You could power your 12V converter from switched 48V, and put in a 12V relay powered by its 12V output to switch the power output from your accessory battery to your accessories. Just remember to put a heavy enough diode in line with the 12V converters output to the accessory battery so the relay is isolated from that accessory battery. Otherwise the accessory battery would keep the relay on all the time. Bob |

You have 48v through a 12v switch.

Re: Carts Unlimited Switchable Voltage Reducer install
That's not possible. 48v turns the reducer on and off. If you want a toggle use a toggle like the Ezgo or CC F&R switch.

Re: Carts Unlimited Switchable Voltage Reducer install
What other options do I have if I do not use a Toggle? Im just trying to get this installed and working properly. I only bought the toggle because it said I needed to use a switch since I have an RXV.
