Default Right rear wheel locked up SOLID

Hello All, complete noob here.

I have a '92 EZGO Marathon and today the right rear wheel locked up and absolutely would not turn. Literally dragged it home behind a truck today. Pretty sure it wasn't the brake as I was able to engage and disengage the brake, set and release the parking brake etc.... The left rear worked fine but the right would't turn.

I have 6 new Trojan batteries all fully charged (checked them this morning). Solenoid clicks when apply throttle, forward and reverse.

An incident occurred a couple of weeks ago as I was driving the cart there seemed to be a periodic bang, or bump, or very loud click coming from the rear end, almost as if something was engaging and disengaging. When the noise would occur the cart would slow as if meeting some sort of resistance but then it would release and move without resistance. The brake was not applied at all while this happened. Since that time the cart did not have the pep it used to and the noise and slowing and speeding up described, occurred often. Last week the cart stopped, not as if it lost power but as if something was actually slowing the cart to a stop without using the brake and it would not move. The solenoid would click when given gas both forward and reverse but the right rear wheel seemed unable to move. Dragged it home behind truck but this time the wheel seemed to break free and I got home under my own power.

Jacked up the back end, ran it forward, ran it backward never a sound or problem and to my surprise, the brakes were actually pretty loose, and took a few seconds to stop the wheels from turning. Don't know if this matters but as I would apply gas the left wheel would turn freely and spin like a tornado but the right wouldn't it would spin much more slowly almost as if it wasn't getting the torque from the motor like the left.

Today the wheel locked up and would't turn. Jacked up the rear end, removed the wheel, the hub (which was a real bear to get off). The brake pads actually fell out of the hub, my guess is from beating it with a hammer about 10,000 times to remove it. Applying gas axle turned freely although the left and right wheels didn't turn together. When I put the hub back on and manually turned the right rear it would turn but after a few rotations it would stop and not from lack of inertia but as if something was physically stopping it. There were no brakes applied and no brakes to apply as the pads were removed.

As I mentioned, I'm a golf cart noob but really like working on them, and this is my first post although I've gotten plenty of info from previous threads. I hope I'm not repeating any old threads, if I am, sorry.

Any help would be great!!!

THANKS ALL!

I have a good idea what your problem is.....the next thing you need to do is jack up the cart.....get yourself a small drain pan and remove the diff. cover. and see what you find. I am guessing you are going to find some pieces/parts of gear teeth and lots of sparkly flakes in the oil....that is if you have any oil in it!

I actually did remove the plug and oil gushed out. It was really gray but there were no flakes of metal that I could see. I guess I could pull the pan and see what's in there but I was kinda hoping somebody else had an idea of what was going on.
