Default Motor recommendations

Hi
I'm looking for a recommendation for a new motor. I have two EZGO carts. Both have lift kits 20" tires and rear seats. The one that needs a motor is a DCS 48v with a Alltrax DCX 400 and a stock motor (AY4-4001 2.25 hp). The other is a PDS 36v Alltrax XCT 400 stock motor. The performace of the DCS cart was excellent. It ran low 20s mph and could climb a decent hill fully loaded with ease. I knew the motor wouldn't last forever on 48v but the 20 year old motor did make it 3 years on 48V. The PDS cart doesn't really meet my expectations however the batteries are weak and and I expect to convert this to 48v in the future. I understand these can use the same motor, one with a sensor one without. I need enough torque for 4 people and hilly terrain. Top speed isnt as important but I would like to be in the 18 to 20 mph range.Faster is ok too.
Thanks

I have a DCS cart that needed a motor...

I ended up calling Chuck at Emp Motors ... www.empinc.biz

They build motors to your needs... You tell them about your cart and what speed you want. If you want...you can send your old motor and they will credit you back based on the condition of what you send them... They nailed it exactly what I was wanting in speed and torque.

When I was told they would custom build you a motor...i was thinking too expensive for me...but that was not the case.

Worth a call.

I did get a quote from EMP. The prices are pretty reasonable. Does anyone else have experience with these motors? How does the reliability of a rebuilt / modified motor compare to a new one?

I work with Chuck a lot, I have tested several of his motors myself and done some programming work for some of his other customers. They typically exceed expectation and they seem to hold up just as long if not longer than stock motors. Hes been doing it for awhile and knows his way around a motor.
