Controller?
I have ezgo pds with Curtis 73326-G07 controller. I understand that to be 350 amp, and 36v only, correct? I have 4 amp cables,b and freedom chip. Motor is stock. Can that current setup handle handle an motor upgrade? Such as plum quick bandit, without requiring compete system upgrade, or am i in an all or nothing situation?
Thanks in advance Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Controller?
The stock controller will run a PQ Bandit, but the speed will stay the same since a stock PDS controller limits the motor to about 4400RPM, which is about 19 MPH on stock (18" tall) tires with stock (12.44:1) gears in the differential.
When not RPM limited by the controller a stock PDS motor will spin at about 5600RPM when fed by a 36V battery pack, with is about 24MPH with stock tires and gears. However, a stock PDS controller goes into a reduced performance mode (about 3 MPH) if it doesn't receive speed sensor data from the motor. You didn't mention your tire height, but you indicate the cart has a 6" lift, so I suspect the tire height is 22" or taller, which is going to kill the stock PDS controller, so a new controller ought to be added to the wish list. |

I'm running 215/35/12. I always forget something important. They are 12 inch wheels with low profile tires.

So if i upgrade the controller, and leave everything else the same, will that give me much gain, and will that burn up my stock motor.

Perhaps maybe also a valid question, is how big a tire can the stock controller and motor run, without over tracking taxing everything

The controller and solenoid need to be upgraded. I suggest the Alltrax XCT48400PDS, or larger and turn down to 400A with the stock motor. Here is where I got mine: http://www.cartsunlimited.net/alltra...-controls.html 215 x 35 - 12 tires figure out to be a whisper over 17.9" tall and a whisper under 8.5" wide, so you are basically running stock height tires. With a 36V pack, you'll get about 24 MPH, if you go to a 42V pack, you'll get about 28 MPH and be spinning the motor at a bit over 6500RPM. Your motor is 8 years old, so the RPM ought to be limited to about 6000 which can be done with the XCT controller since it is user programmable. 6k is about 25.7 MPH on your tires. |

On relatively flat roads with two average weight people onboard, 20" would probably be okay. Shorter tires would be best for going off road and/or carrying more weight. To run tall tires, the drive system has to be beefed some up to survive. The taller the tires, the more beefing up is needed. Basically, a stock system is designed to carry two golfers and the equipment for about six mile over groomed trails in eighteen 200-300 yard increments. If you want the cart to do more than that, the drive system needs to be upgraded. |

Re: Controller?
You Can upgrade the control to 400a and solenoid to 200a and leave everything else alone in this cart and get about 75 to 80% of the total benefit. The last bit being the withheld by the restricted amperage delivery of old and smallish OEM wires. But I have done this on many test vehicles and seen considerable performance improvement without harm to the carts.

That's all great information. I greatly appreciate it. I had the wheels and tires on it, and the only reason the lift was performed was the fact that I'm a tall fella and i needed to replace the front axle anyway. I'll probably run it as is for a little while then when tires need replaced go with some taller ones.
