95 medalist running jerky
When I push down on the petal, I get a sort of humming sound and a lot of jerking. Sometimes the cart will go really slow.....and other times it will go faster but cuts out jerking to a stop almost as if I slammed on the brakes, darn near causing whip lash. I guess I would describe it as sort of a studdering effect. letting off of the petal will sometimes help for a second or two but thats all. I have cleaned all battery terminals and wires....checked all the wires and motor connections....taken apart and checked the F-N-R switch...taken apart checked and bypassed the on/off switch. Checked and bypassed the micro switch, and today I even took 6 batteries out of my friends Cart to see if it was just my batteries and it still did the samething.
.......what should I try next? We got a foot and a half of snow here now so I got sometime before camping season starts and I need it. |

Re: 95 medalist running jerky
Thanks...I'm getting an internet education, an just looked up motor brushes. This is all new to me, but I'm willing to learn as I go. How will I know if the brushes are bad? What am I looking for?

Re: 95 medalist running jerky
Today I took the motor off, and looked at the brushes...they looked good as far as i could tell...had good contact and spring tension....I took it all apart and cleaned everything with electric motor cleaner while i had it apart. Got it back together and it still does the jerking and cutting out. Anything else I should try before I throw in the towel?

Let's see. 95 Medalist. Pot box I think.
Check it out. Pot box is ohms. 0-5k. Smooth rise from 0 at no throttle to 5k at WOT. |

Re: 95 medalist running jerky
Okay....Thanks I will give that a try next...the microswitch seems to be working and i was able to bypass it and still got the herky jerky deal. Im guessing you are talking about the potentiometer? (round thing with a hole in the middle)...lol.....Thanks again!

Re: 95 medalist running jerky
To be honest, I don't remember if that cart has a pot box or and ITS. The testing is different for the ITS.

Re: 95 medalist running jerky
Okay thanks!....Inductive Throttle sensor? (ITS)....so thats the round thing with the hole in it? I'm guessing....the only other thing in the box is the micro switch and the rod attached to the pedal. I give it a try!
