2001 EZGO TXT: Solenoid or Controller
I was given a 2001 EZGO TXT 36V that had recently been flooded (water did not rise above top of batteries). It ran as normal for a few days and then slowed down to a crawl. The batteries are less than 1 year old and tested good. So far I have changed the accelerator micro switch and ITS with no change in speed. The solenoid clicks when the accelerator is pressed. Using some advice from Google, I tested the solenoid with a multimeter and it leads me to believe the solenoid is not working properly. Also, I discovered that the precharge resistor was broken off from one of the contacts.
What would be the proper way to test the solenoid? |

GO here > http://www.cartsunlimited.net/troubleshooting-.html and watch the multi-meter video. Then click "ezgo trouble shooting" and scroll down to "solenoid testing"

Re: 2001 EZGO TXT: Solenoid or Controller
Would a faulty solenoid account for the golf cart moving very slow?

Re: 2001 EZGO TXT: Solenoid or Controller
yes, the control can go into limp mode if it detects a welded solenoid.

Re: 2001 EZGO TXT: Solenoid or Controller
I found a thread that gave me some good information on that issue on the same year model cart but it was a PDS. I'm pretty sure mine is DCS.

PDS & DCS use the same solenoid but, have different solenoid activation circuits. I gave you all the info needed to test any solenoid

Re: 2001 EZGO TXT: Solenoid or Controller
I replaced the solenoid and attached a new resistor. The golf cart ran normal speed for about 10 minutes but it now appears to be back in "limp" mode. I tested the solenoid per the instructions you recommended and it tests good. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Re: 2001 EZGO TXT: Solenoid or Controller
I don't know what to tell you - I know submerged carts can develop some strange problems that will make you pull your hair out. Basically the open end of the controller cover is way quite low in the cart and it's likely the controller has terminal water damage.
