Default Run-Tow switch?

Everything I read says before I work on my cart I should turn the switch to tow. But I don't see a switch on mine. Any ideas?

Maybe you have a series type cart. It has no tow/run switch.

It is a series cart. Thanks for the info. So I should just pull a cable when I work on it? Is this type better than having just a toggle to switch from forward to reverse?

Series & Sepex carts are sort of best suited for their own roles, but with a pretty big overlap in the middle. The series motor is the workhorse motor of the 20th century, just about every portable or moving job on earth that has been done with electricity has been done with a series motor. It has the best torque. The Sepex motor is a newer addition to the lineup, it generally sacrifices a little low end torque in trade for more speed and precise control. So, it all depends on what you want from your cart. If you are wanting a cart for hauling, off road types of uses, series is generally better. If you want to build a cart for the street, with speed, it can be done more easily with a Sepex system. The reason a Sepex cart has a tow/run switch is because the controller handles the solenoid, and can turn it on whenever it sees fit (including while you are disconnecting the wires). Power surges are a major enemy of sophisticated electronics.

A series motor is exactally what I need as I live in the country in a hill and plan on driving it up and down the hill almost daily. At least until the snow flies.
I do plan on upgrading this one to 48v. Which should only make it better.
