Default 300 amp vs 400 amp

My cart has stopped a couple times most possibly through thermal shut down of the controller. It only happened a couple times and has not done it again in a while but I'm sure I will have to replace the controller soon.

these are my questions:

I currently have a 300 amp controller, should I replace it with a 300a or go with a 400a? I can also send in my 300a and have it rebuilt to 400a.

What will 400a give me that a 300a won't?

If I some day upgrade from 36 volt to 48 volt, will I be able to use my controller if I upgrade it now to 400a?

Is there anything else that I would need to upgrade if I change to the 400a?

What make/model controller do you have??????

If a 300A controller is going into thermal shutdown, replace it with at least a 400A. If your tires are taller than about 20", consider going to 500A.

A 300A controller that has been modified to pass 400A will still have the heat dissipating abilities it has as a 300A controller, so if the 300A controller is going into thermal shutdown now, it will only get worse at 400A.

If the controller is rated for 48V operation, it will work at 48V, otherwise it won't.

Can I put a 48 volt controller into a 36 volt cart?

I just want to make sure that I can buy a controller that I can use later and not have to buy again if I upgrade.

All of the aftermarket ALLTRAX controllers will run on BOTH. mine is currently running 36v......when I buy a new pack, it will be 48v. and its already ready to go. that is if all of your delivery system (controller, solenoid, f&r, cables) are all rated for it.

As mentioned by Sir Nuke, Alltrax controllers will operate with a 36V pack now and a 48V pack later, however not all solenoids will.

The Super-Duty one that I use, does. I've used it at 36V and 42V so far and will use it at 48V if I decide to go that route.
