EZGO Advanced DC Motor 73445GO2
The splines on my motor and the splines on the Dana differential are toast. What a weak design!!!! Can you/me realistically remove the splined collar on the armature and can you buy/get that collar once you get it off?

Re: EZGO Advanced DC Motor 73445GO2
Good morning. I am surprised that I have not had any responses to my question over the ability to remove/replace the splines on the motor. Is the question that far removed from reality or ??? Thank you

Re: EZGO Advanced DC Motor 73445GO2
I'm pretty sure it has been done, I'm just not sure how to do it.
Contacting some of the motor builders like EMP and Plum Quick might get you the information you are seeking. Also, posting these questions in the "Extreme DC" and "General B.S." forums might get results. |

Re: EZGO Advanced DC Motor 73445GO2
RIB33024. Great links, but mine is a 2003 TXT. Yes, the coupler looks the same but will it work on a 2003 TXT 73445GO2 motor. The coupler links all refer to 1988 thru 1996. If this one does not work for the 2003 you would think that they would also list one for the later models.

RIB33024, You are tenacious. I will call them in the morning and confirm the 1975 and up; assuming I can talk to a real person that knows something!! I will pass on my findings. THANK YOU

Re: EZGO Advanced DC Motor 73445GO2
As noted in the above links shared by RIB33024 there are two details I want to highlight. 1: The correct bushing for the Advance Motor is 3252, the description typically says it will cover 1975 and up.The prices vary a lot $$82.82 from Welch's Golf to $130. 2: The bushing is an interference slip fit to the motor. No surprise, typically you need a fair amount of quick heat, oxy/acet is preferable, to allow the bushing to expand enough so you can pull it off. Yes welding a nut to the bushing, 1/2" hex with a little grinding, is a hammer fit into the worn out ID followed by a Stick, MIG Tig weld. Strongly suggest a grade 5 bolt & nut as I easily sheared off the first bolt!!!, OK not enough heat.
The other option is to cut a notch in the top of the bushing with a 4" cut off wheel down as far as you can without hitting the windings, then with a 1/4 " ball mill grind a groove to the bottom of the bushing. The wall of the bushing is typically .225 thick, the depth of the spline is approx .8, overall length 1.775 ", so the engagement is approx 1". Last step, tapered chisel in the notch and hammer to split the bushing, you will see the crack. Pair of vice grips and it should come off. If not, more hammer and bury the chisel in the notch. |
