Inductive hour meter on electric cart?
I have extra inductive hour meter laying around. The kind you wrap around a spark plug wire. Is there any chance I can get this to work on electric cart? I suspect not...but thought I would ask.

Re: Inductive hour meter on electric cart?
Maybe, maybe not.
An hour-meter is basically an up-counter that counts only when it is turned ON. Apparently there is something akin to an astable flip-flop that is set by the induced pulse from the spark plug wire, turning ON the timer and if another pulse is not received within a short time period it resets, turning OFF the timer. The questions are whether a steady voltage input would keep the flip-flop set and if so, what voltage is needed? My guess is that it probably won't work. |
