Charging voltages
I have a 1998 36v EZGO TXT and curious at what voltage the charger should cut off? This is all new to me so I'm a little concerned with a brand new battery pack getting charged over 40v. The charging amps are steadily going down so I'm thinking everything is working right but don't want to kill a new battery pack by overcharging.

Re: Charging voltages
You may see upwards of 48.6 volts during the charge cycle....

Re: Charging voltages
Attached is the recommended charge profile for Trojan brand deep cycle batteries. Note that max voltage listed on the voltage scale is 2.79VPC (Volts per Cell).
A 36V battery pack has 18 cells, so the max on-charge voltage recommended by Trojan is 50.22V. The max on-charge voltage reached depends on what type charger is being used. The legacy chargers (ferroresonant transformer type) typically shut off at 45V +/- 1V while the modern dV/dT type may climb closer to 50V. |
