Batteries gone bad..
36v system...wife tells me the cart barely made it back home yesterday. There are 6 Trojan T-105's in there that were installed 3 yrs ago by the previous owner. I hooked up the watering system and the batteries took a lot of water...took measurements on each battery and 4 of them were 6.5 and 2 were 5.9...do you think the 2 batteries are wasted? Would equalizing them help?
Thanks for your input! |

Re: Batteries gone bad..
Does not so much as matter where they are in the pack as power is drawn from all equally in "Series" fashion but if they are tapped to provide 12 volts for powering radios, headlights and such, if used a lot this tapping will abuse the batteries and cause premature failure... As to equalization charging this is something you should be doing to them monthly as well as watering and taking voltage readings to look for batteries dropping in performance. You can go ahead and try at this point to see if a couple of equalizing charges brings them back but I'd not hold out much hope at 3 years old the 2 are down to 30 % charge meaning... Any use below 6 volts is causing permanent damage...

Re: Batteries gone bad..
Since the two low batteries are next to each other, connect a 12V charger to the pair and give them an overnight charge, or longer - up to about 24 hours.
You don't have to disconnect the cables. |

Re: Batteries gone bad..
I have "The Battery Guy" coming over to take a look...he has the "machinery" to possibly recharge the two but he needs to look at them...don't want to spend big $$ on new batteries at this point...maybe get a couple of good used ones...

Re: Batteries gone bad..
Yeah the reason I asked where they were is that EZGo taps the back 2 batteries on the passenger side for 12 volt accessories. That would explain the lower voltage.
