TXT48 controller suggestions
I have a 2011 TXT48 cart. Stock motor/controller. Upgraded cables, lift, ScottyB dash mount volt meter and 23" tires.
I currently get 22/23 mph which is good. 1 or 2 mph more wouldn't hurt though... I really just want a little more torque and ability to change regen on the fly with the new dash mounted alltrax switches. Any issues with XCT400 and a STOCK motor? Is the XCT400 is compatible with the new alltrax switches? I don't want to create problems on a cart that currently runs great... Hoping to do the upgrade when Uncle Sam gives me back some of my taxes early next year. |

Re: TXT48 controller suggestions
If you are getting 23MPH on 23" tall tires, your motor is spinning at 4182 RPM and the stock 48V TXT controller limits motor to 4400 RPM, so you already are maxing out less than the RPM limit imposed by the stock controller and might not see any increase in speed with a XCT, which can be user adjusted up to 8000 RPM.
Going from the 250A stock controller to a 400A XCT (460A peak) will up the low end torque by at least 60%. The XCT also has a higher sustained throughput, so there might be a slight top speed increase, but I'm not sure about that. Theoretically, with 23" tires and the 4400 RPM limit of a stock controller, you ought to be seeing a top speed of 24.2 MPH, so you have tires with a high rolling resistance , or they measure less than 23: tall. (The numbers on the sidewall are very approximate at best - mine are marked 18" and measure 17") The XCT's manufactured after Aug-2016 have the jack for the remote controls. |

Re: TXT48 controller suggestions
Just sharing my experience....I had the exact same cart with XCT500 controller turned down to 400amps and burned up the stock motor after 9 months.
I was doing a lot of things that you shouldn't do, such as driving slow on hills with a fully loaded cart (5 people) in temps over 100°F in Texas. |

Re: TXT48 controller suggestions
I have XCT400 on my TXT48 with the stock motor and no issues, runs 25mph on stock tires. Wanted to put aftermarket motor on it but it runs so good I put it off. The new version XCT-FN is compatible with the personality switches.
I will be taking my old version XCT400 out soon and discounting it but - it has no FN connection. |

8. Pkg # XCT400 TXT 48 XCT400 & 200 HD solenoid kit. Should I buy the kit with the 4ga cable set? Or it's ok with std cables. STD 2014 TXT48. Considering lift and wheels for the future. Only golf usage. Or should I go for the 500 & 400 solenoid? Price wise this is better as it con, dues fans. |

Re: TXT48 controller suggestions
For golf use you can upgrade with the XCT400 and 200 solenoid and leave the stock cabling. You may only get 90% of the performance but believe me when I say in this cart You will still be wowed. Still climb hills faster than before and still reach 24 mph on the street.
The 500xct does include the fan for a few dollars more. And you will need to turn it down to 400a for the stock motor. The 500 also includes the bigger 400 solenoid. |

Re: TXT48 controller suggestions
Thanks for the input all!
ScottyB, how difficult is it to play with the regen on the non-switchable alltrax? Is it really just as simple as plugging in the laptop to a USB and setting it to whatever you like? Is the USB port readily accessible? I do like the idea of a discounted controller... A lot.... I would need to buy the HD solenoid and (I assume I need) the mounting bracket too. Just depends on the month as to how much $ I can play with. I already went with 4g cables a while back as the stock ones had deteriorated too much. Mattadata, thanks for the info. If I go this route I'll be sure to limit the amps. I don't regularly do stuff to my cart it's not meant to, but I absolutely do once in a while... If I set the limit to 375 amps that's still a lot more torque than stock and may help with longevity. JohnnieB, I'll be sure and check my tires. I think I had them set at 14psi, but I haven't looked in a LONG while. I think they are rated for 20psi so I will give it a go at full pressure. What RPM is safe for the stock motor to spin? I am sure I won't be near the limit as I want 24 or 25mph so that would be somewhere around the 4500 RPM limit I suppose. Just curious about the safe max though. |

Re: TXT48 controller suggestions
I was told the old XCT for TXT control will not accept the FNKS wiring - However I don't understand why it can not other than the programming was just never written... I have asked my Alltrax tech about this
Because thsi is the same control which the IQ cart uses and it DOES work with the FNKS. If I forget to post back in a day PM me... |

Re: TXT48 controller suggestions
I suspected as much but i got busy and when Alltrax tech told me it would not work I assumed they knew more than me about this software so I gave up and waited but - I just got confirmation that the FNKS will work with the old TXT48 controllers if plugged into Pin 4 and 11 just like the IQ so I am sorry I am not selling my control but I am plugging the FNKS in asap
Wow PS There are a few discounted old style units on sale on the website, thank you for asking |
