2012 RXV high speed gears 8:1
My neighbor got a 2012 RXV and bought 8:1 gears online. He asked me to install them. The box said p/n 5897 but the item description said ezgo electric 2007 and down only. Part number is correct for 8:1 RXV 2008 and up, but description isn't obviously.
Link for RXV high speed gears: http://gilbertgolfcarparts.com/high-...xv-p-1212.html Tore apart rear and intermediate gear is different in rxv compared to what shipped. The existing gear has larger I.D. intermediate gear bearings (0.787") and the new intermediate gear has smaller I.D. bearing shaft (0.667"). Probably end up sending gear set back as they don't fit. Has anyone seen this before? |

Re: 2012 RXV high speed gears 8:1
Yep, that's a Rxv thing. There is a bearing to put Rxv gears in other Dana axles, but none to put the other gears in Rxv axle. (none I can find, and I have a long list of "6000 series" bearing dimentions)

Re: 2012 RXV high speed gears 8:1
Figured.
The 8:1 gears are going back. Seems there will be the same problem for 10.5:1 gears? Looks like I want p/n 5898 (2008+ RXV 10.5:1 gears) |

Recommendation for high speed gears in RXV.

Re: 2012 RXV high speed gears 8:1
Now he says he wants 6:1 gears since the 8:1 gears are incorrect! Oh boy.
I told him 6:1 probably don't exist for RXV. He sent me this: https://www.golfcartking.com/ezgo-rx...eed-6-1-ratio/ What the heck? Stock is 16:1, I could not imagine 6:1 Are these for real? . |

Re: 2012 RXV high speed gears 8:1
Yay, potential for over double the stock 19mph, and no brakes! Will run & hide at the mere sight of an incline. Also, isn't over 2.5x more work for the controller a bit much to ask of the stock 235a controller. None of this looks good!

Re: 2012 RXV high speed gears 8:1
I really suspect those 6:1 gears are really TXT gears, not RXV gears. At least not RXV gears with bearings like the 2012 I am working on.
