Default RXV Intermediate Gear Bearing replacement

Anyone out there with an EZGO RXV (2010) that has replaced the intermediate gear bearings on the transaxle (Dana)? Going to be replacing the input shaft/bearings on mine and thought about replacing these bearings. According to the service manual, it sounds to easy! It says "Push intermediate gear assembly (1) toward narrow side of gear housing and install bearing (3) on intermediate gear assembly shaft. Don't they mean "press" as in some type of special tool to press the gear assembly into the bearing while inside the case?

No they mean buy a new gear assy with bearings already installed then replace assy.

That IS relitively easy.

they never consider YOU pressing bearings off and on.

They don't even press on, the bearings just slide off after snap ring is removed. Intermediate shaft cannot be removed with bearings in place. You need the plugs that cover the bearings also to do this job. This job should be considered a "pull the entire axle and do it on the bench" type of job. Because the carrier & ring gear has to be removed to allow the intermediate shaft to move.

Is it common for these bearings to wear out?

Input shaft inner bearing, yes. Intermediate shaft bearings, not really.
