battery wiring issues

need some help with the way the batteries are wired up on my 85 ezgo cart one neg. side of a battery is not connected but the cart still works is that good

NO. The battery pack is wired in series. The pos from battery 1 to the neg on battery 2 the pos on battery 2 to the neg on battery 3 the pos on battery 3 to neg #4 until the end then you have a neg open at one end and a pos at the other... check these two with your voltmeter...36v? ...bet you are running 30 volts
