Major Shoutout for ScottyB
As may of you here know, I am a Golf Cart Mechanic that works for a small shop in Central Florida. As the manager of the shop, it often falls to me to get creative when our vendors for whatever reason can't meet the needs we have. Recently, I had the need for a reversing contactor (82 year old female with severe arthritis and a VERY stiff EZGO F&R) and none of my primary vendors had them in stock. As this was for a customer whose ONLY means of getting around is their golf cart, this put me in a serious pickle......
Along comes ScottyB...... Knowing that I have dealt with Scotty over the years with everything from purchased items, to traded items, to trading knowledge back and forth, I reached out to him via email (yes, I have his phone number, but let's be honest, he is constantly moving and phones are a distraction). I told him I was in need of a reversing contactor and after a few quick emails back and forth, The invoice was paid and I had a shipment confirmation. Now, being that I am in Central Florida and Scotty is in California (and knowing the way the postal system works at the speed of reverse) I fully expected when I placed my order on Wednesday that I would see the contactor arrive sometime next week, probably Tuesday or Wednesday. I was okay with that because at least my customer would have her cart for Thanksgiving Let me tell you I was SHOCKED..... Completely Dumbfounded when Friday morning, along with the ton of usual junk mail, there was a Package from Carts Unlimited. I felt like a kid at Christmas! I immediately opened the box and found a VERY well packaged reversing contactor kit (including all the needed hardware to mount it and instructions). I get parts in all the time and this was beyond a doubt one of the best packaged items I have ever gotten. There was no chance that damage could happen in shipping short of an 800 pound gorilla stomping on it. Being that this wasn't the first reversing contactor I have ever installed, I didn't need the instructions, but I took the time to read over them anyway. They were clear and concise, anyone could easily follow them. They have excellent diagrams for making it simple for those that are more visual than technical. Basic hand tools were all that was needed (ok, you do need a drill to mount the housing for the rocker, but who doesn't have a drill at home?). It took me about 30 minutes from the start of removal of the old switch until the cart was up and running with the new reversing contactor. Obviously my 82 year old customer was completely over the moon to be getting her cart back so quickly, and I was simply amazed at how fast it arrived and how well packaged it was. Scotty, you have the thanks of both myself and my customer! |

Re: Major Shoutout for ScottyB
I just recently had an issue with my old big block EZgo cart. Initially I thought it was a blown transaxle. But after doing a little digging here on BGW, I figured out it was just a spun hub. I have the Ausco mechanical disc brakes so I needed their special hub. I did some more digging & wasn't finding the part I needed. When lo & behold, Scotty comes to the rescue. Not only did he have the Ausco kit, but he was willing to sell me just the hub I needed for a fair price.
Thanks Scotty, the cart is rollin again. Mucho appreciated. |

I am in North Carolina ordered a controller package from Scotty last week and it was here on the third day all the way from California. After opening the package I realized the solenoid wasn't in there, after emailing Scotty, the solenoid was here in three days. Mistakes happen, but Scotty will make it right!

Great write up Rabbit!
It's threads like these that just p*ss me off! Why you ask??? ... because, I have a gas golf car! However... I also have a positive comment to share about Scotty! Last year Scotty had gotten something in for a gasser, and he really didn't know what to do with it! (because... well??? he doesn't deal with gassers that much!) I wanted to buy it from him, and PM'd him with my info and shipping details... with this particular item, he refused to sell it to me, and would just send it to me no charge... I offered to at least pay for the shipping, and he said: "No!... it's my Christmas present to you!" AND... it was on my doorstep in 2 days! Talk about shocking! You just don't see that from people now-a-days! Thank you Scotty! |
